Communicative Tool:
A communicative tool is any software, application, or computer technology that helps people to exchange and share information with each other. In teaching and learning, a communicative tool is used by teachers and students to communicate, ask questions, give answers, share ideas, and communicate. The tools help make learning interactive, fun, and meaningful. They prove to be specially helpful when learners are in batches, studying at home, or even when educators need to accumulate responses and feedback from everyone effortlessly. Communicative tools enable teachers and learners both to feel connected and included as part of the learning process.
WhatsApp video call- we discussed on educating peers and it was very useful for undergraduate students like us as WhatsApp allow us to have a long time conversion unlike zoom which is time limited. (Picture was clicked as a memory).
How using communicative tool (WhatsApp) is helpful in teaching and learning?
Being a student teacher, I have learned that communication is very important in teaching. One of the tools I believe is simple and efficient is WhatsApp. Even though I am not a full-time teacher yet, I have seen how WhatsApp can help in teaching and learning during my training, peer engagement, and group assignments.
WhatsApp is convenient and many of our students and faculty members already use it on their mobile phones. While on practice teaching and in study sessions with my peer tutors, we could not help using WhatsApp to network, share thought ideas, and give each other assistance. Through WhatsApp, we discussed lessons before and after classes, shared instructional materials, and resolved doubts and issues beyond our class time.
One of the tools that I found very useful is the group video call. We used this tool in an effort to discuss problems together, talk about our micro-teaching lessons, and provide feedback. These group video calls allowed us to see and hear each other, and it made our discussion more interactive and engaging. It was more personal than texting, and all of us had a chance to speak and listen.
I also utilized the WhatsApp tool for sharing PDF notes, pictures, and short educational videos that related to our lessons. This helped in creating a small circle of learning where we could continue to learn outside of school hours. Sometimes, my friends would join in by asking questions or adding more resources to the group discussion, which made learning collaborative.
Another feature of WhatsApp that I found useful is the voice message option. I used it when I needed to explain something quickly and briefly. I found it useful when I had issues with typing long messages or when I needed to give clear directions. Listening to voice notes from individuals also helped me better understand things.
Although we are not yet in charge of full classrooms or interacting with parents, applying WhatsApp in our training has helped me see how much of an impact it can have on learning, reflection, and communication with peers. It is essential, though, to use it responsibly and remain mindful of the purpose of learning.
Finally, as a future teacher, I believe WhatsApp is a good communicative tool. It allows easy sharing, group conversations, and video communication. I look forward to using it more in class one day to build an interesting and supportive learning community.
